GRADING 2024
Grading is a process that occurs each year and is the way in which Newman Sienna Netball Club (NSNC) decides the composition of its teams for the upcoming season. NSNC is committed to ensuring that the grading of players is conducted in a fair and consistent manner with the best interests of players and club in mind. The aim of grading is to form teams which have a balanced group of players of similar ability across all playing positions. We select teams to ensure the best chance of success, the greatest level of enjoyment and the highest potential for individual player development during each season. The grading process will also be influenced by the number of registered players in any season or age group.
The Newman Sienna Netball Club (NSNC) grading committee will consist of our Club President, Vice President and the NSNC Coaching Coordinator. In addition to this group, there are three external independent graders who all collectively work together to grade our players and help create our teams. At all times the NSNC Grading Coordinator will oversee all the steps involved with the grading process.
When grading our players we ask the graders to consider the following:
Every player to start the grading process on a clean slate, independent of previous years performance
Look at the ability shown by the players over the 3 grading sessions
Ensure that all players have played in both their 1st and 2nd preferred positions

This year sees the introduction of a newly formed grading process for years 9-12. In the past we have tried, as much as possible, to keep teams in year groups. With the strong development of the Club and the increasing numbers,
the Club has made the decision to trial a different approach for Winter 2024.
Years 9-12 will grade as a whole group, and based on individual merit, players will be placed in teams accordingly. The players competing for a position in the higher divisions may be requested to attend an additional training session
during the grading weeks. These teams are highly competitive, mixed age groups and will be appointed
accredited, experienced coaches.

Come with nails cut and no jewellery. Remember to bring a drink bottle!
Uniforms will be available for collection and purchase at specific trial days/times, please see Marina for all uniform questions.
This year grading will be undertaken at the Gold Netball Centre at Matthews indoor courts as well as the outdoor courts at Matthews. It is important that ALL PLAYERS ATTEND ALL GRADING DATES. Please let the Club know if you can’t attend any session via email to nsncwa@gmail.com
All players requiring a uniform MUST visit the Uniform sizing stand at the first or second grading session.
This will ensure that uniforms are delivered prior to season start.
The uniform consists of the NSNC dress, Newman College socks and each player should wear
blue/black boy leg underwear/bloomers under their dress.
